After I visited the Rio Tinto Mine in Boron (see the last issue), I drove south on Borax Road to Twenty Mule Team Road to get to the Twenty Mule Team Museum and the Aerospace Museum, also in Boron. The museums are side by side on the corner of Boron Avenue and Twenty Mule Team Road, and right across the street from the 20 Mule Café (and a block down from Domingo's), making an easy stop to visit both and have lunch while you're there. Jon Hammond, contributing writer|Jan 20, 2024

I have a variety of antique items handed down from my Tehachapi family, but one of my favorites is one of the easiest to overlook: a 1907 Kodak Brownie box camera. This simple device is slightly larger than a Pop-Tart box and made of wood and cardboard covered with black fabric. There are a few metal parts and a couple of glass lenses, and that's about it. • Saving my memories in book form

    Mel Makaw, contributing writer|Jan 21, 2023

I didn't make any New Year's resolutions this year. As a general rule I find I don't keep them anyway. It's easy to say I'm going to do better at this or that or I'm no longer going to do that or this, but it's hard to follow through when old habits are so firmly formed. The only resolution that has ever worked relatively well for me is this: "I resolve to be open to new possibilities." It basically comes down to simply reminding myself to keep myself open to any and all possibilities, whatever...
