Tehachapi Arts Center

August 19, 2023

This month the Arts Center welcomes local artist, Collen Farrel, as our Paint Night guest instructor on Saturday, Aug. 19, from 5:30 to 8 p.m. In the grand tradition of paint nights everywhere, all materials, as well as hors d'oeuvres, wine and other treats will be provided for a fee of $35. We look forward to welcoming new and past students. Go to our Facebook page to see this month's painting.

Join us on Saturdays for Art Club. Art Club is an activity designed to provide young adults with a place to create. Art Club is held on Saturdays from noon to 4 p.m. There is no fee to use the space to create. The Arts Center provides the Art Club platform for young people to express themselves and work on their dreams free of charge. Art Club is a place and a time to collaborate, create and find unity. Artists of all ages are welcome. Minors under the age of 10 must be accompanied by a supervising adult.

Children's Art Classes with Grayson are held each Wednesday from 3:30 to 5:30 p.m. This class is perfect for children ages 6 through 14. The focus is on creativity and art techniques. It is a wonderful place for flourishing junior artists to grow and learn.

Our next Aspiring Musicians Jam Night is scheduled for Aug. 22 from 5 to 10 p.m. and beyond. Jam Night is a casual event for beginning to intermediate musicians and singers to play in a group setting. Bring some sheet music to share, an instrument or two and let's make some noise! Call the Arts Center for details. Code word: Jam Night.

Two new vendors have opened in the Arts Center retail space. The first business is Mark Kamerer, Key Maker, practicing the "Art of Making Keys." Mark has many varieties of keys available. He specializes in house, cabinet, toolbox, master padlock, older automobiles, motorcycle and RV keys. Marks philosophy is: The time to get an extra key is before you need it! Key making is done on Mondays, Thursdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and by appointment. For an appointment, call (949) 355-7106. Keys are guaranteed to work. Also, welcome Rebecca Ortiz Johnson, Attorney at Law. Rebecca has been practicing family law and general civil law for over 25 years. Her office hours are Monday and Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. and weekends, by appointment, from noon to 4 p.m. Rebecca's number is (661) 829-4941.

Don't miss our September classes. Our artist of the month will be Britany Plamer. Her art will be displayed at the First Friday Celebration, (located inside the Arts Center), on Friday, Sept. 1 from 5 to 7 p.m. Please join us in enjoying her extraordinary works of art.

The Tehachapi Arts Center (TAC) is a cooperative continuing in the tradition of Mel White's Treasure Trove. TAC provides a venue for local artisans to gather, learn, teach, display, and sell their art. We are located at 116 E. Tehachapi Blvd. (across the street from the water tower). TAC is open Monday through Sunday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Note: we stay open later for special events such as Thursday's Farmers Market. If the flags are out we are open. You can reach us at: (661) 822-6794.
