First Friday, ceramics classes and glass classes at the Arts Center

Tehachapi Arts Center

October 28, 2023

First Friday falls on Nov. 3, so don't forget to come out for food, fun and drinks. We also have ceramics classes, a how-to class: making a "shower steamer," a fused glass Christmas ornament class, paint night (on the third Saturday of each month), the improv workshop, jam night, (every other Tuesday) and many more class offerings.

New Arts Center hours

We are now open 7 days a week and we stay open until 6 p.m. on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Regular hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Sundays noon to 5 p.m. Note: We stay open later for unique events such as Thursday's Farmers Market, local fairs, community events and holidays. If the flags out, we're open! Remember: our jeweler Mike is present in the store each Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Events this month

The First Friday of every month we have an open house from 5 to 7 p.m. This month it falls on the third day of the month. Come on out and see what is going on for the month as you visit with the artists and friends. Enjoy some wine and hors d'oeuvres. Sit down and relax listening to the soothing sounds of Art Larson's clarinet.

Children's Art Class: Runamuk Ceramic Studio is now offering kids art classes on Sunday, Nov. 4 and Nov. 19 from noon to 2 p.m.

Friday, Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. we're having our first ever Shower Steamer making class.

Shower steamers are like bath bombs for showers. Take our class – it's a fun way to get clean and stay healthy!

Our Improv Workshop is back! Johnathon and Susan host a fun evening intended to hone your improvisational skills and make new friends. Snacks are served on this second Saturday of the month gala. This month the event will be held on Nov. 11 from 5:30 to 7 p.m.

Leila Kleiman is offering her Fused Glass making skills to teach her students how to make Christmas ornaments. The class will be held on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 1 p.m.

Paint Night is on Saturday, Nov. 18 at 5:30 p.m. Come and create a seasonal painting and enjoy a fun evening with fellow artists. We provide all materials wine, punch, pizza and hors d'oeuvres.

Jam Night: Dust off that old guitar, bass, keyboard, harmonica, ukulele or whatever you have and come out for a fun night of music and socializing. We are mostly a group of intermediate musicians, so don't think you have to be great to join us. Bring a few copies of songs you want to play. We usually start around 6 p.m. You can arrive as early as 5 p.m. People coming from work arrive as late as 8 p.m. This month Jam Nights will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 14 and 18.

Join our co-op

If you are looking for a place to display your art, consider joining us here as a co-op member or an artist vendor. If you have an artistic skill you would like to share, you can teach a class in our classroom. Young artists are welcome, too. We are proud to have a growing number of up-and-coming artists getting their first start here at the Arts Center.

Follow our Facebook page

Our Facebook page manager Marta Escanuelas has been busy posting our events, so don't forget to visit us there and follow us for a calendar of events each month. You can view all the classes and updates online.

The Tehachapi Arts Center (TAC) is a cooperative continuing in the tradition of Mel White's Treasure Trove. TAC provides a venue for local artisans to gather, learn, teach, display, and sell their art. We are located at 116 E. Tehachapi Blvd. (across the street from the water tower). TAC is open Sunday through Wednesday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday through Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Note: we stay open later for special events such as Thursday's Farmers Market. If the flags are out we are open. You can reach us at: (661) 822-6794.
