Local Team Liberty BMX racers recently competed in the California Summer State Games held in San Diego on July 24 at San Diego BMX. Tehachapi Valley Wrestling Club started their Freestyle and Greco Roman season with the Kern County Wrestling Association. Arvin Grizzlies hosted the "Grizzlies Olympic Year Countdown" with kids from five years old to high school competing in the two Olympic styles of wrestling. They started the big weekend off with the CVYWA Masters competition at Corcoran, which combined qualifiers from the North and South Valley events. Bakersfield Jr. Drillers hosted the CVYWA Super Bowl Blitz on Feb. 1. Tehachapi Valley Wrestling Club recently traveled to Tulare to compete at one of the toughest Valley Tournaments, the “10th Annual California Republic.” The tournament was a two-day event with Middle School Divisions competing on Saturday. Tehachapi Valley Wrestling Club has started their wrestling season with 50 boys and girls from kindergarten to eighth grade. The team is divided into three practice groups: middle school, grades 2-5 and grades K-1, to ensure that each wrestler receives a lot of individual attention. Tehachapi BMX racers competed in the Golden State National BMX races May 18-20 at Metro BMX track in Bakersfield. Local BMX riders recently competed at Bakersfield Metro BMX race track May 11 and 13. On Friday night, racers were the Howard family of Dad, Nate and kids, Alex and Sydney and two newer riders from Tehachapi, Caleb and Cade Peterson, who are also part of Tehachapi wrestling.
