On May 25, officers from the Tehachapi Police Department were dispatched to 400 Tucker Rd. (Walmart) to investigate a report of grand theft from the business. Walmart employees described the suspects and suspect vehicle to responding officers. Officers located the suspect vehicle in the 1100 block of West Tehachapi Boulevard. J St., to be used as a storage facility by Nathan’s Towing & Storage as a short-term storage and impound lot. At their May 6 meeting, the Tehachapi City Council approved a project proposed by the city to add a 15 foot x 20 foot expansion space behind the BeeKay Theatre. I had several expensive trees taken, early morning on May 5 (possibly late evening on May 4). The big trees were Vanderwolf Pine, Oriental Spruce and Bakeri Spruce, all in 20 gallon pots. Tehachapi celebrated the Wind Festival at Meadowbrook Park on April 20. "Old timers" may remember past wind festivals from many years ago. Our valley has lost two noteworthy members in the past few weeks. Eldon (Don) Kordes was well-known as a member of the CSD Board for a few years. He was also very talented as a woodcarver and donated pieces to the Tehachapi Heritage Museum. As a veteran, he will be interred at Bakersfield National Cemetery on April 3 at 10:45 a.m. A Celebration of Life will be held at the Tehachapi Heritage Museum at noon that day.
