  • Is it spring yet?

    Midge Lyndee, Book Review|May 28, 2024

Tehachapi is not known for an easy or speedy spring. Today as I look outside, the bushes at my windows have finally budded, the row of poplars across the street are resounding like ocean waves as winds rush through their fresh new leaves and last but not least, the mighty oaks have lazily stretched their limbs accepting the inevitable. Spring has...

This winter and spring we've had the good fortune to have an average amount of precipitation, about 11.5 inches worth of rain and snow. Mike Scotti, contributing writer|Mar 16, 2024

"Someday, I'm going to open a gift shop!" I would declare this each time I left a gift shop during retail therapy sessions with my friends. Fast forward to retirement in late 2019, after 20 years of teaching first, second and third graders only to be isolated by COVID-19. Although I had family close by, the pandemic made it difficult to cultivate new friendships and experience all that Tehachapi has to offer. Once the city began to reopen, an opportunity presented itself where my son's tour...

  • 'Do gooders' are everywhere

    Pat Gracey, contributing writer|Dec 23, 2023

Speaking of "do-gooders," I recall one afternoon taking place at McDonald's twin drive-in lines. I decided I needed a cup of coffee...
