The Tehachapi Cancer Foundation recently hosted its annual fundraiser, Screw Cancer 5 "Staying Alive," at Dorner's Family Vineyard for the second consecutive year. Tehachapi Cancer Foundation is hosting a fundraiser on June 1 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Dorner Family Vineyard, 18274 Old Ranch Rd. The event itself is free to attend, dinner will be catered by P-Dubs and will cost $30 for beef or chicken and sides. Dinner tickets can be purchased in person from Jeannette Devlin or Jim Wallace at Country Real Estate. Dinner tickets will be available at the event, also. Tehachapi Cancer Foundation, in partnership with Tehachapi Area Association of Realtors, is hosting a fundraiser on Sept. 17 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Triassic Vineyard, located at 24627 Cummings Valley Rd. The event itself is free to attend, dinner by Bean Me Up Espresso will cost $25 for tacos, rice and beans. Dinner tickets must be purchased by Sept. 1 online at Eventbrite. Hello, fellow villagers. I thought it was time for an update on Tehachapi Cancer Foundation. With no in-person fundraisers for over a year now we, like all nonprofits, are struggling. We are currently assisting four of our villagers with their financial needs. To date we have not had to say “NO, we can’t help.” We have had to scale back how much we can help; that way everyone gets something. We can’t thank our community enough. I wanted to give everyone an update from the Tehachapi Cancer Foundation. To say 2020 was a rough year is an understatement with businesses having to shut down or scale back, high unemployment and being on a “stay at home” order. We humans are very resilient and adjust as needed. It is not an easy adjustment but we are survivors. Nonprofits were hit hard also. Exciting news for the Tehachapi Cancer Foundation. We were approached by Kevin Burton, President of the San Joaquin Community Hospital Foundation. Kevin picked up one of our brochures at Lemonade Locks located inside the AIS Cancer Center. Kevin called me to set up a meeting to see how we could work together to help the citizens of Tehachapi in their cancer journey.
