Geo Brawn IV and his wife Nancy moved to Tehachapi near the end of June this year. They moved here from Eastvale, California, a little town near Norco and Riverside, where they had resided for about 10 of their 15 years together. One of the deciding factors in the move was the huge growth in that area of Southern California. Nancy said that another deciding factor in the move was a new Amazon fulfillment center that she said made Costco look like a "mom and pop." For years they had heard how wonderful Tehachapi was, so they decided to check it out. Nancy has a sister, Caroline, who lives in Santa Barbara and it is Caroline's husband who owns the Tehachapi house and suggested that Geo and Nancy live there. They love it here and are still amazed by the wildlife they see roaming around their house.
Nancy said she was actually born in Connecticut but her family moved to California when she was 1 year old so she considers herself a California native. She grew up in Rowland Heights. She is a professor of Comparative Religion and teaches online and in person at CSU Long Beach. She is currently driving to Long Beach every week and stays with a friend for the three days of her in-person classes. Her classes include subjects like Ancient History, Mythology, Religious Studies and Race and Ethnicity in the Classical World. She also teaches classes at SOKA University, a liberal arts college in Aliso Viejo. Nancy holds two Bachelor's Degrees, a Master's Degree and a PhD from Claremont Graduate University.
Nancy and her sister also have a candle making business called "Wicked Sisters Candle Co." A portion of every candle sale goes to support animal rescues. Their candles are currently available in Tehachapi at U-neek Findz on F Street downtown and on their website http://www.WickedSistersCandleCo.com.
Geo is a true native Californian. He was born in Lakeview Terrace and grew up in West Covina. Geo said he worked for Charter Communications for nine years through its transition to Time Warner and then Spectrum before deciding to commit to being a full time artist and graphic novelist.
Since the early 2000s, Geo has become well-known as a painter and digital designer. However, he is best known as a creator of fantastic illustrated stories. As a child he always loved comic books, so it is not surprising that he has gained notoriety as a graphic novelist. He is considered one of the top 50 artists at Comic Con worldwide and may be having an exhibit in Tehachapi in the near future. One of his graphic novels is currently in preproduction for a possible television show and he may be having a showing in Tehachapi in 2024. Stay tuned!
Another part of their family is Bohdi, a friendly Australian Shepherd, who had been with a family for six years but was left behind when they moved. All Bohdi has to deal with now is Bella, the black Tabby cat belonging to Geo and Nancy.
The entire family is so glad to be in Tehachapi and Tehachapi welcomes them as well. We know we will hear more from you.
