Community gives back for Thanksgiving

November 25, 2023

Provided.

Caiden Frost and Noah Cardenas, local high schoolers from The Village Tehachapi helping load over 60 turkeys.

The Tehachapi Humanitarian Relief organization, in partnership with Stallion Springs Community Church delivered over 60 turkeys and Thanksgiving sides to local families throughout Tehachapi on Nov. 20.

All turkeys came from local private donations. Some of our biggest contributors were Tehachapi House of Terror for donating over $900 to purchase turkeys, Tehachapi Mountain Democrat Club who donated over 390 lbs of food and 4 turkeys, NASA contractors ASRC federal & Arcata associates who contributed over $900 worth of food, including 14 turkeys, The Semerenko Group for donating 15 turkeys, Julie Foster and various donors for purchasing over $250 in gift cards for turkeys and sides, and Morgan Van Loon for donating 7 turkeys. Jenny Jolly with Jolley Home Helper also ran a promotion, raffling off a free full home clean, contributing to many donations of food and tukeys.

Stallion Spring Community Church collected, purchased, and packaged all sides for all the donated turkeys. And Village Tehachapi staff and high school students helped load cars and carry turkeys.

Amber Gonczar coordinated countless volunteers to help organize, package, and distribute to families all over the Tehachapi valley from Sand Canyon to Stallion Springs, Mountain Meadows to Bear Valley, and everywhere in between.

All food not included in Thankgiving Packages were donated to the Warrior pantry, a free resource for high school students in need to bring food home to their families.

Thank you to all who contributed and made this Thanksgiving distirbution a success.
