Five pies were submitted for the Pie Baking Contest at the 2023 Apple Festival. From top to bottom, the pies were submitted by Jessica DeMumbrum, Michelle Anaya, Sandy Therrien and Kevin Keller, Silent Wolf, and Kelli Knapp.

On Oct. 15, The Loop newspaper hosted a pie baking contest at the annual Tehachapi Apple Festival. We would like to thank the bakers of this year's competition; five pies were submitted. A special thank you goes to our four judges, Police Chief Richard Standridge, Blair Budai, Tehachapi Arts Commission Secretary Laura Dreyer, and Tehachapi Mayor Michael Davies. They went above and beyond to make a difficult decision. A three-way tie for second place led to a second helping of pie before voting again.
