Gregory Unger.

We are heartbroken to announce the death of Gregory Unger, 67, who passed away peacefully on Oct. 29 surrounded by family and friends at Adventist Health Hospital, Tehachapi.

He was born in Jacksonville, Florida and came to the high desert in the early '70s, graduating in 1975 from Burroughs High School, Ridgecrest, California.

He met and married his wife, Jo Ann, in 1980 and they resided for most of their marriage in California City, including eleven years in Tehachapi. They raised five children, Daniel, Susanna, Joseph, Joshua, and Jacob.

Greg was an electrician and worked at U.S. Borax in Boron, California for thirty years. He loved computers, challenging himself at chess, playing the piano and reading the Bible. His favorite scripture was Revelation 21:4: "And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away."

Greg is preceded in death by his father, James, his mother Elizabeth, and sisters, Terry Louise, and Vanessa. He is survived by his wife, children and two grandchildren, Makayla, and Jonathan. He is also survived by his siblings, Dan, Lynn, James, Cindy, Steve, Valerie, Yvonne, and Dale.

Memorial services will be held at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 18. A gathering for family and friends will be held afterward.
