The Valley Boulevard Resurfacing Project will completely close Valley Boulevard between Beech Street and Curry Street to all traffic for several days to complete the project before schools reopen in August.
The full closure of the roadway will allow the construction company to finish the job in a matter of days versus weeks if partial traffic access was allowed during construction.
Closure schedule
Valley Boulevard will be closed at 6 a.m. on Friday, July 21 and reopened at 5 p.m. the same day. The road will be ground down 2 inches in preparation for new asphalt.
Valley Boulevard will be closed Monday, July 24 at 6 a.m. and remain closed 24 hours a day and reopened Wednesday, July 26 at 5 p.m.
Valley Boulevard will be closed on Thursday, July 27 at 6 a.m. and reopen at 5 p.m.
The cost of the construction project was estimated at $607,000 and is funded by a grant from a Regional Surface Transportation Program through Caltrans. The project is being built by Griffith Construction.
