Interested in being a lifeguard?

Tehachapi Valley Recreation & Park District

Interested in a great summer job or challenging career as a professional lifeguard? Through videos, group discussion and hands-on practice, you'll learn teamwork, rescue/surveillance skills, First Aid and CPR/AED and other skills you need to work as a professional lifeguard.

Successful completion results in a 2-year lifegaurd certification that includes first aid, professional-level CPR and AED in one certificate. Digital certificate available upon successful completion of course.

Class 1:

Dates: May 14 from 3:30 - 8 p.m.

May 15 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

May 16 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Location: Day 1: District Office, 490 W. D St., Tehachapi

Day 2/3: Dye Natatorium. 400-B S. Snyder, Tehachapi.

Class 2:

Dates: May 20 from 3:30 - 8:30 p.m.

May 21 from 3:30 - 8:30 p.m.

May 22 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Location: Day 1: District Office, 490 W. D St., Tehachapi

Day 2: Dye Natatorium. 400-B S. Snyder, Tehachapi

Prerequisite:

All students MUST complete the Lifeguard Pre-Assessment in order to attend full class:

• 300-yard swim test

• A 10 lb. brick test

• Be able to tread water without hands for two minutes

Re-Certification class:

Date: May 23 from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m.

Location: Dye Natatorium pool and TVRPD District Office

Cost: $100 Lifeguard re-certification Class

Prerequisite:

• 300-yard swim test

• A 10 lb. brick test

• Be able to tread water without hands for two minutes

• Each participant should bring a lunch, change of clothes, bathing suit and towel

*Passing certification does not guarantee employment with TVRPD.
