Randall Joseph O'Laughlin.

Randy, devoted and loving husband, father and friend passed away, with his family by his side, after a 15-month painful battle against pancreatic cancer.

Born in Los Angeles, Randy learned early on how to use tools and build things. His father was a mechanic and always had tools around. His family bought land in Fallbrook, California and Randy and his brother helped to plant 12 acres of avocados. Randy was no stranger to hard work and quickly learned how to use a shovel to dig and pull weeds. At the age of 17 Randy joined the Navy and served on the USS Hancock, CVA19. The training he received set him up for a career in telecommunications.

After the Navy, Randy went to work at Pacific Bell installing telephones. He then worked at the City of San Jose, San Bernardino County and retired as an engineer from Los Angeles County, department of Public Works.

Randy was the first in his family to attend college. He graduated from San Bernardino Valley College and California State University, San Bernardino with a computer science degree; and California Baptist University with an MBA. Randy was a life-long learner and continued to take classes and teach electronics and computer science. He so impressed the faculty at California Baptist University that they asked him to teach the MBA computer classes.

Randy married the love of his life, Jeanie Armagno, on June 19, 1976. During their 44 years of marriage, they had many adventures and shared their life and love with 32 foster children, and their two children.

After he retired, Randy went back to working with wood, something he learned in his high school wood-working classes. He built his first CNC wood machine then moved up to a professional machine. He loved to design and build wood projects for friends and family. Randy also played classical guitar; his favorite artists were Bob Dylan and Joan Baez. He started working on building a guitar but was not able to finish that project. Randy's other passion was riding dirt bikes. He loved living in California City; he could jump on his dirt bike and ride from home to miles of open desert. He instilled a love of riding in his sons Andrew and Randy. Prior to his diagnosis, Randy was racing the Sprint Enduro series as a Legend and finished the year in second place.

Randy leaves behind the love of his life, Jeanie; sons Andrew and Randall, II; his brother John and sister Caroline; many nieces, nephews and cousins. Randy was preceded in death by his parents Joseph and Janet O'Laughlin and brothers Barry and Mike. Randy will be remembered for his kindness, humor, generosity, and loving spirit. A private Mass and memorial service will be held with private interment.

2 Timothy 4:7-8 "I have competed well; I have finished the race; I have kept the faith. From now on the crown of righteousness awaits me, which the Lord, the just judge, will award to me on that day, and not only to me, but to all who have longed for his appearance."
