High-Speed Rail update

April 11, 2020

Time on your hands? Read the hi-speed rail Tehachapi segment EIR.

The California High-Speed Rail Authority has extended the public review period and hearing for the Bakersfield to Palmdale Draft Environmental Impact Report/Environmental Impact Statement (EIR/EIS). The review period has been extended to April 28.

The public hearing, scheduled for April 23, will be a virtual format.

To view the contents of the Draft EIR/EIS, visit the website http://www.hsr.ca.gov.

This 70-mile Bakersfield to Palmdale section of the High-Speed Rail will pass through Tehachapi, coming across the mountains behind the new hospital, crossing over the railway tracks and Hwy. 58, cross Tehachapi-Willow Springs Road, continue into the Rosamond area and on to Palmdale. There will be stations in Bakersfield and in Palmdale.

Public input on this project is important, and it’s a good time to look at the EIR. Construction continues on the High-Speed Rail and has extended into Kern County.
