The importance of planning ahead
Rotary Club of Tehachapi
March 16, 2019
Sally Periman Lawrence and Andrew Atkins from Wood Family Funeral Home spoke to Tehachapi Rotary on March 6 about the importance of making your final wishes known to your loved ones before they are ever needed. Lawrence emphasized that having a Durable Power of Attorney for Health Care and Physician Orders for Life Sustaining Treatment (POLST) were also a planning must. She reminded everyone how the stress of losing a loved one can cloud one's memory making it difficult to even remember the names and dates required on a Death Certificate. Wood Family provides the service of pre-planning said Lawrence, part of which is going over all options with families whether civilian or military.
Lawrence is a 20-year resident of Tehachapi who began working for Jerry and Barbara Wood shortly after moving here. She is now Funeral Director of Wood Family Funeral Home. Andrew Atkins is new to Tehachapi and a new member of the Wood staff.
