What's Up in Stallion Springs?

Derby Downs Cart Races

On Saturday Oct. 7 the Police Athletic League, (PAL), held Derby Downs Cart Races on Stallion Springs Drive with over 30 participants. The winner was Parker Rodriguez. After many two car heats the final winner was determined by the fastest time down the course. Police Chief Mike Grant clocked the cars with a radar gun and Parker was able to guide his car down the track at a speedy 16 miles per hour. He was closely followed by Ava Weishaar at 15 MPH. Third place required a run off between six drivers all having run 14 MPH. Carolina Madueno won the run off to become the third place winner.

After the event having been on hold for seven years, Senior Officer James Best was able to pull it all together by having the old cars brought out of storage and repaired by local residents, and a couple of new cars built. Officer Best indicated he plans to have to races twice a year with the next one planned for April 2018.
