Donald McConnell - May 2, 1927 to March 15, 2017

Donald McConnell passed away at age 89 in Tehachapi, CA., after a long battle with cancer. Donald was born in Pocatello, Idaho, and raised in Oklahoma before entering the military academy and serving in the U.S. Army. He was a proud veteran of World War 11. In May of 2015, he participated in the Honor Flight to Washington D.C. which enabled him to see all the war memorials, which he counted as a highlight in his senior years.

Donald is survived by his wife Anna of 62 years and the daughter Sharon and family in Lancaster, CA, and by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. Daughter Donna of Lancaster and grandson Wayne of Idaho precede him in death. Donald is also survived by son Donald, by a previous marriage, and his family in Oklahoma.

Donald had a 30 year career as an aerospace microwave engineer, while pursuing his passion for horses. Along with his wife Anna, he boarded and trained horses for competition and had a thriving hay business as they raised their young family at their Sylmar ranch. He eventually became a licensed horse show judge. After retiring, Donald enjoyed traveling by motor home, square-dancing and attending air shows.

God bless the many family, friends, doctors, nurses, and others who so generously gave of their kindness and care. Special thanks to the City of Hope Antelope Valley, ProCare Hospice, Bakersfield, Country Oaks Baptist Church, Tehachapi, and Wood Family Funeral Services, Tehachapi.

The family has chosen cremation, and no services are scheduled at this time. Memorial donations may be made in Donald's name to Sharing & Caring Thrift Store, 207 S. Pauley St., Tehachapi, CA 93561 or to the Guild of Tehachapi Valley Healthcare District, 115 W "E" St., Tehachapi, CA 93561.
