Lions give thanks

Lions Club of Tehachapi

Suzanne Williams and Sally Padilla

The Tehachapi Lions Club would like to take this opportunity to offer a public, heartfelt thank you to all of the supporters of their Apple Drop Fundraiser. Due to your generous support, the Lions were able to provide Christmas to 40 low-income or homebound senior citizens, some of whom are veterans or veterans' widows, in Tehachapi.

The Lions purchased "Wish List" items for the seniors and their pets with funds raised from their annual Apple Drop which was held in October. The seniors also received a poinsettia and a gift bag of sundries items or everyday necessities that many seniors do without (2-ply toilet paper, shaving cream, shampoo, lotions, detergent, etc.) which were generously donated by members of our community.

A big thank you goes out to The Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce and The Loop newspaper for allowing their businesses to be the drop-off locations for the donated sundries items again this year. We would also like to thank Irene Engrat and the associates at Home Depot who teamed up with us this year to collect sundries and who provided other sources of comfort to our seniors. Thank you to Kmart for providing a discount to our volunteer shoppers when purchasing senior wish list items. Once again, thank you Tehachapi! We are so fortunate and blessed to live in such a caring and compassionate community.
