The board of Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District voted on July 26 to approve a District Loan in the amount not to exceed $587,500 for the purpose of capital improvements throughout the District. The loan will be paid off over the next 15 years. New and expanded playgrounds will be purchased and installed at West Park and Central Park, a new basketball court will be poured at West Park. It is felt that these items need to be addressed for safety reasons. Brite Lake, as a recreational asset for the citizens of Tehachapi and area visitors, will have a playground installed at Pavillion #1 as well as a new disc golf course.

Should funds permit, the District has a"wish list" that includes a climbing wall at Dye Natatorium and West Park, a basketball court at Meadowbrook Park, agility features for the Dog Park, skate park improvements and additional park features like ping pong, chess and corn hole.
