Michelle Vance, Economic Development Coordinator for the City of Tehachapi, spoke to the Tehachapi Lions Club on May 19 about three proposed projects for the Active Transportation Program Grant. The grants, if awarded and implemented, will greatly enhance public safety and non-vehicular connectivity for our community. The three proposed projects are:
1) Cherry Lane Southside Sidewalk Project: This project will close the existing gaps in the sidewalk from Tucker Road to Elm Street
2) Tehachapi Boulevard Class I Bike Lane Phase II: This project will install a Class I bike lane on the north side of Tehachapi Boulevard from Dennison Road to Steuber Road
3) Valley Boulevard Northside Sidewalk: This project includes constructing a curb, gutter, sidewalk and landscaping on the north side of Valley Boulevard from Mulberry Street to Curry Street.
There are points awarded for community support and in particular support from other public agencies and special districts in the community. The City of Tehachapi respectfully requests the assistance of our community by writing letters of support for each of the above mentioned projects. Lions honor two lifetime club members

The Tehachapi Lions Club gathered at Big Pappa’s Steakhouse to honor two of their members as Honorary Lifetime Tehachapi Lions Club Members. Don Kueneman and Ernie Schaefer were awarded this honor due to their dedication, hard work and willingness to serve our wonderful community of Tehachapi.
Kueneman has been a Lion since 1993 and has served as president and secretary. Kueneman brought the idea of Student-of-the-Month to our club.
Schaefer has been a Lion since 2003 and has served our club well including being the chairman for the Jacobsen Middle School and Tehachapi High School Graduation Gate Control which takes place every Spring.
The Tehachapi Lions want to thank these wonderful men for their service and wish them well.

Lions learn about cholesterol
Dr. Darren Robison and President Suzanne Williams.
Dr. Darren Robison, DC spoke to the Tehachapi Lions Club at their June 2 meeting. Dr. Robison is the owner of Dare2Care Chiropractic. Not only is Dr. Robison a chiropractor, but he is a Functional Medicine Practitioner, as well. Functional medicine addresses the underlying causes of disease, using a systems-oriented approach and engages both the patient and practitioner in a therapeutic partnership.
Dr. Robison gave a very informative talk to the Lions about cholesterol and how statins are overprescribed for treating cholesterol related problems.
