What's Up in Stallion Springs?

 

Stallion Springs Police Chief Mike Grant presents Sergeant Gary Crowell with the Distinguished Service Metal for his service to the community.

Sergeant Garry Crowell was presented with the Stallion Springs Police Department Distinguished Service Medal, by Police Chief Mike Grant for his service as a police officer, senior police officer, training officer and sergeant from January 24, 2005 to present. Crowell has set the highest standards of integrity and living both professionally and in his personal life in strict adherence to the Police officers Code of Ethics. Crowell has previously been awarded a SSPD Life Saving Medal and over 30 commendations for his service.

A Letter of Commendation for his graduation from Law Enforcement Command College was presented to Police Chief Mike Grant by the Board of Directors for his great personal achievement and dedication to our Community. Chief Grant invested 18 months of his personal time, while still performing his duties as Chief of Police and Stallion Springs Asst. CSD General Manager. While attending on-site classes, receiving emails, cell texts, phone calls, spending hours studying and regular weekly exams he continued to manage and perform his regular Chief of Police and Asst. CSD Management duties. Chief Grant has obtained the highest Law Enforcement certificate a police officer can obtain in the State of California.

Police report

Due to illegal dumping the Stallion Springs Police Department has begun patrol checks at the transfer station. Please check the posted signs before dumping.

SSPD officers received the following training, Kern County OES site protection and document screening techniques. From the National Center for Biomedical Research they received Training in narcotics and officer safety including heroin in pill form, yaba tablets, deaths from Norco and Fentany, and hidden rooms in marijuana grows.

Grow your own

Planting has begun and there's only a few boxes left. The Stallion Springs 4-H club is preparing the Community Garden for this year. Located behind the swimming pool the garden still has various size planting boxes available for rent for $12 to $36 dependent on the size of the box. Planting is expected to begin around Mother's Day. Reserve yours now. For more information contact Denise Cox at 661-822-1423 or Lori Rogers at 661-822-3268. Applications are also available at the CSD office.

Stallion Springs Board of Directors

Meet on the third Tuesday of every month. The next meeting will be on Tuesday, June 21, at 6 p.m. at the CSD Board Room.

Houchin Blood Drive

At the CSD, June 18, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Property Owners Association

Meets on the fourth Tuesday of each month. Everyone is welcome. The annual meeting is scheduled for June 25 at the Community Center.

4-H

Meets on the Second Friday of the month at 7 p.m. in the library. For more information about the Stallion Springs 4-H group contact, Lori Rogers at 822-3268.

The Neighborhood Watch

Meeting is held on the third Wednesday of the month. The next meeting is on June 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the CSD. You do not have to reside in Stallion Springs to attend.

Stallion Springs Garage Sale

Saturday June 11, 2016 at the Community Center 8 to 1 p.m. in the parking lot. Clean out those garages and closets and make some money at the same time!

Rates for Stallion Springs residents $10 and includes a parking spot sized space. (Non residents $20.)

Please pick up an application at the CSD. Bring (or send ) application to CSD before Friday June 4, 2016 with proof of residency and admission price. First come first serve as there are limited spaces. No electrical will be available to spots.

This event benefits our Parks Department. Hot Dogs will be sold by our Stallion Springs 4-H Club.
