Two Tehachapi community service superstars have announced new plans.

Houchin Blood Bank Account Manager Christina Scrivner will leave that post on Dec. 31 to dedicate herself to her busy household. Scrivner has been instrumental in the success of numerous blood drives for the Bakersfield-based non-profit blood bank. At the Nov. 4, 2015 meeting of the Greater Tehachapi Economic Development Council (GTEDC), Houchin CEO Greg Gallion announced Scrivner's departure, praising her "enthusiasm, energy, commitment, knowledge and her ability to communicate the message." He said, "It will be a true loss." Scrivner and her husband Zack, the Kern County Second District Supervisor, live in Tehachapi and have four young children, ages 1, 3, 6 and 9. Scrivner said she will remain active in the community.

Twelve-year Tehachapi resident Donna Fischman of Slickfish Marketing, who has been an engine that drives community charity events and always adds zest to the proceedings, is topping off an eventful year by moving to Indiana, where her extended family resides. "Thank you for allowing me to be part of [the community activities]," Fischman said at the GTEDC meeting. "It's a move toward family." The past year has brought a lot of changes, the Porterville native said – "All of them blessings."
