Tehachapi airport manager moves on to new skies

TEHACHAPI, CA – On May 27, 2015, the City of Tehachapi announced that Airport Manager, Tom Glasgow, has chosen to move on to new skies, returning to the private sector as a chief pilot. Glasgow has served as the City of Tehachapi’s Airport Manager since 2011 and has left a great legacy at the municipal airport.

“Tom has been such a great asset to this organization and to this airport and will leave a valuable legacy,” said City Manager, Greg Garrett. “His aviation management expertise was incredible and while we will miss him around the office, we’re happy for him and respect his choice to return to his true passion of flying airplanes.”

During his tenure, the City entered into new non-aviation leases on the north side of the airport to generate needed revenue to support aviation operations. He also oversaw multiple capital improvement projects including a major asphalt rehabilitation project, a runway lighting and striping enhancement, and drove the planning and design of future taxiway improvement projects. According to Garrett, Mr. Glasgow’s lasting legacy will be in bringing people together to support aviation in Tehachapi.

“Tom was a constant advocate for more investment in the airport” said Mr. Garrett and for increasing aviation’s presence in the community through outreach events like the Warbird Fly-In and the Run on the Runway event.”

According to Mr. Garrett, the City plans to hire an interim private management consultant to assist with the transition while the City explores all the options available for the long-term management and operation of the airport.
