Tehachapi residents complete CASA training

Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) announces the graduation of the most recent class of CASA trainees. The Honorable Louie L. Vega swore in the graduates as CASA of Kern County during a special ceremony held at the CASA office in Bakersfield on Wednesday, May 6, 2015.

Tehachapi residents Sharon Slaughter and Lorriane Ryan-Bell completed 32 hours of training, which included three full Saturdays in California City and one full weekday of court observation in Bakersfield.

These Advocates were always on time and never missed a class!

CASA volunteers are appointed by the juvenile court judge to assess the current circumstances of the child, report these findings, and speak on the child’s behalf in court.

The next training class to be held in July 2015. For more information, please contact Karina Capellino, Community Outreach Coordinator at (661) 631-2272.
