Leadership Training and Rotary Seminar

Interact members from 5 high schools took part in a Leadership Conference on Jan. 17. Judy Trujillo, Past President of The Rotary Club of Tehachapi is District 5240's Youth Advisor who developed the conference.

Students from Tehachapi , Garces, Highland, Centennial and North High Schools took part in leadership training and Rotary seminar.  The conference was held at the Bakersfield Boys and Girls Club this past Jan. 17.   Rotaract members from Bakersfield were also on hand to talk about Rotaract, and they pitched in to provide food and snacks for everyone attending.  Tehachapi resident Tim Trujillo taught a session all about Leadership and how to become an effective leader.  Attendees also learned about all the avenues that Rotary provides for youth including Interact, Rotaract, Rotary Youth Exchange, RYLA and Peace Fellowships. It was a terrific morning of both learning and sharing ideas.

This conference is a first for Kern County and we are hoping to include more Interact Clubs  from throughout the Kern County area.

Thanks to our own Tehachapi Club, there was no cost for students to attend the conference.
