At the Dec. 1 City Council meeting, she wished the best for Dennis Wahlstrom, her successor, and thanked her husband Eli for his support "in everything I want to do."

Mayor Phil Smith presented Corpus-Zamudio with a certificate of appreciation and a houseplant.

"You have nurtured the city," Smith said.

Corpus-Zamudio, a native of Texas who moved to Tehachapi in 2004, has served on the Planning Commission, the Chamber of Commerce, Main Street Tehachapi and the Tourism Commission. She pledged her continued dedication and community leadership.

"This is home," she said.
