Diego Maguina 10, of Ridgecrest, one of 7 children, was so excited when he won his bike (one of 3 that were donated by K-Mart) he jumped on it and rode around the park.

"National Night Out" is sponsored by the National Association of Town Watch, cosponsored by the Tehachapi Police Department ,and the Tehachapi Collaborative. National Night Out now involves over 37.8 million people and 16,124 communities from all fifty states, U.S. Territories, Canadian cities, and military bases worldwide. While the one night is certainly not an answer to crime, drugs and violence, National Night Out represents the kind of spirit, energy and determination that helps make neighborhoods a safer place year round. The night celebrates safety and crime prevention successes and works to expand and strengthen programs for the next 364 days.

The event featured music, free prizes, food and refreshments. Attendees that take took "National Night Out Passport" to the various booths and get their passports stamped may enter into a raffle for prizes, which will include children bikes and more.

A big thank you goes out to all the sponsors who make this event something to look forward to every year. Communication and education is very important to keeping our community safe.
