The Tehachapi Valley Gem and Mineral Society is holding the 10th annual Gem, and Mineral Show during the Mountain Festival weekend.
So what 's new you ask? Well the Vendors you have seen before will be returning and bringing their hand crafted articles made from gems, minerals, and fossils and skillfully turned into Jewelry and other items of beauty.
They have finished items and the raw materials you can use to fashion or make your own items. There will be vendors offering tools, findings, beads as well as the completely ready to wear Jewelry items.
This is a great opportunity for early Christmas shopping for unique gifts. The show will be on the grounds of St. Malachys Church on August 15, 16, and 17th from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at 407 West "E." Street in Tehachapi.
The Tehachapi Valley Gem and Mineral Society booth will have the always popular spinning wheel with many unique prizes as well as an opportunity for you to slice open one of those thousands of years old geodes from Dugway Utah and be the first person ever to see the crystals inside. There will also be raffle with many beautiful and unique prizes.

The Society uses funds from the spinning wheel and the raffle to help fund the scholarship given to a deserving local student to further that persons higher education. It is going to be a lot of fun again this year and you will surely be glad to stop by and look at the many interesting items including the ever popular fluorescent Mineral black light demonstration, Rock polishing demonstrations.
Have a question about a rock, mineral, or something you found out on your walk? Bring it on by and someone will surely offer an opinion as to what it is.
For the serious inquiries there will again be a Registered Gemologist who may be willing to identify or give a knowledgable answer to that question, Is it real? is it valuable? Professional appraisal available on a fee basis. Hoping to see you there again!
