What's Up In Stallion Springs

Neighborhood watch

Neighborhood watch held a brief meeting on July 8 at the CSD building. It was reported that membership in the group was up to 255 members. Volunteers for block/area captains are still being sought to help coordinate efforts. The next meeting is scheduled for Wednesday August 13 at 6 p.m.

Police report

Police Chief Mike Grant reported that Sergeant Gary Crowell successfully graduated from California Peace Officers Standards and Training Management School, a comprehensive 3 week program.

During the month of June there were 109 reports filed, 121 calls for service, eleven arrests were made, 32 citations issued, 82 want and warrant checks, and 138 officer initiated investigations. Four medical assists were also reported.

Two separate Stallion Springs residents reported that they were victims of credit card fraud. During each investigation, an SSPD officer discovered that unknown subjects had utilized their credit card information to make fraudulent purchases out of state.

The SSPD received additional reports of an "IRS phone scam" in which the victim is telephoned by a false IRS agent claiming the victim owes the IRS back taxes or that they are "fraudulent". If the victim refuses to pay, the false agent states that a warrant will be served on the victim's home and they will be arrested. The scams intent is to attain credit card information from the victim.

SSPD officers have begun issuing warning citations for subjects fishing at Horsethief Lake without SSCSD fishing permits.
