Teams Needed

Relay fo Life

The 2014 Tehachapi Relay for Life has kicked off and teams are needed! Teams make Relay, and it is the Teams who raise funds for research so that we may have more Survivors on the track and in our lives.

Relay is a Team Event sponsored by the American Cancer Society. For 24 hours teams of one to 100 walk the track at Jacobsen Middle School in honor of or in memory of all those who have fought cancer; cancer never sleeps and neither do the teams.

Today, two out of three cancer patients will survive cancer and we celebrate at Relay by honoring our Survivors with the opening lap on Saturday morning. For most that attend Relay this lap is one of their favorite moments; to see all the purple shirts walking the opening lap solidifies why we Relay and why we keep hoping for a cure.

Relay is also about Remembrance; the Teams also gather in the evening to remember all our loved ones who are no longer with us. The Luminara Ceremony is the most powerful moment at Relay, and strengthens our resolve to finish the fight!

Relay meetings are every second Thursday of the month and everyone is welcome to attend and find out about Relay for Life. The next meeting is April 10 starting at 5:30 p.m. at Carden School on Brian Way.
