Julianna Crisalli, the daughter of long-time Tehachapi resident Al Crisalli, sits on a rock during the invocation for the Bear Valley Springs Historic Kawaiisu Preserve on Oct. 22. Al Crisalli learned the Kawaiisu language and worked to help preserve their history and language through books and art. They gave him the name Sigugüd Pui, meaning "blue eyes".
