Charles Jones, neighbor to Philip Marx Central Park, asked if he could take custody of the carved frog tree stump that the Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District was removing for safety reasons on Aug. 17. He has painted it with wood stain and protectorant because, he said, "I figured it needed a little more attitude."
