On May 6, the Tehachapi Community Theater (TCT ) was given notice that they had been awarded $25,000 from the Spring Cycle grants awarded by The Bakersfield Californian Foundation. The foundation has a long tradition of giving back to Kern County through funding grants to a variety of local nonprofits.
The $25,000 grant is to help with the funding of the expansion of the BeeKay Theater.
Grant writers Douglas Jockinsen and Deborah Hand-Cutler couldn't be more pleased and proud.
TCT is currently in the middle stages of "The BeeKay Theater Expansion Project" which will add backstage and support space to the east end of the existing theater building. This is a much-needed undertaking in order to make the BeeKay more "userfriendly" for all renters and resident productions.
Planning and fundraising to complete the over 700' two-story addition has been underway since 2013.
