Kathryn Jacobson at work in her studio

Working from her home studio space in Bear Valley Springs, Kathryn Jacobson uses Photoshop CS4 technology to create stunning works of art from photos she has taken. Her present camera is a Nikon 700 and she enjoys using her zoom lens.

Inspired by animals and their actions she likes to re-interpret what she saw into “a softer more painterly image”. She works from her Mac. She enjoys working in a setting of urban noise and can often be seen at Kohnen’s Bakery working the images on her computer.

Her love of animals may come from her professional work as a trained animal chiropractor.

“I am also trained to work on humans, but animals know how to relax while most humans find that simple task very difficult, and most animals respond better to treatment than most humans.”

She also enjoys painting and spends much of her free time photographing dogs and cats for Save Tehachapi’s Orphaned Pets (STOP) animal rescue organization. She studied journalism and worked for a local Santa Barbara newspaper.

Her work will be on display at the 31st annual BVS Art Show and Sale sponsored by the Bear Valley Springs Cultural Arts Association.

Opening reception will be on March 28th at the Bear Valley Springs Country Club. Gate reservations are not needed this year, just let the gate guard know you are going to attend the art show and sale. Art work will remain on display and sale until April 5th.
