Have A Heart Humane Society Needs Community's Help

We are asking for help for the dogs and cats at the Mojave Shelter. The shelter is in dire need of blankets, towels, rugs, pet beds, dog and cat treats and chews. Avoid blankets with stuffing, feathers and fringe and rugs with rubber backing or fringe. Please wash and bag items before donating. And please don’t forget this shelter when you’re thinking about adding a new pet to your family.

Weeks ago we reported rescuing seven small dogs from an equipment yard on South Street. We dubbed them the Magnificent 7. We have since had all of them spayed, neutered, microchipped and vaccinated at Critters Without Litters in Bakersfield, our rescue partners. We have five girls and two boys. We think one is the mom and the rest are her pups (about 10-11 months old). All but two are ready for adoption. One, Zeke, is a fabulous agility dog, who jumps hurdles, races through tunnels and is on his way to winning ribbons and trophies! We guess the dogs to be Fox or Rat Terrier mixes, five of them have beautiful golden eyes, all have short coats and all are very playful and social thanks to our fabulous fosters who have devoted so much of their time to these abandoned dogs. All our dogs are $175 to adopt.

Got a spare pet carrier? We need pet carriers of all sizes to give to the people transporting death row dogs from our shelters via airplane to other states where they are wanted. We recently donated 21 carriers toward a transport of 109 dogs to Washington state and Montana. We also need several portable, fold-up wire exercise pens for our puppies and quarantined dogs.

Have a Heart currently has over three dozen little kittens in our care and would appreciate donations of Purina Kitten Chow, Kirkland dry cat food, canned cat food such as Friskies. Our bottle baby kittens need pet baby bottles and nipples and Baby Cat canned cat food (available at Petsmart) for when the bottle babies starting eating solid food.

And, of course, we are always in need of fosters to help us save more pets.

Please drop off your donations at Radio Shack during normal business hours and leave your name and phone number so we can thank you.
