Local Memorial Day Ceremonies

On Monday, May 27 at 11 a.m. Join us as we remember our fallen service members with pride this Memorial Day. Together we pay homage to those who have given us our freedom.

As part of the ceremony, we will be displaying photos of our fallen service members. We will be accepting submissions from Tehachapi residents for pictures of fallen service members until May 13 to remember and honor them that day and beyond.

We will no longer have a Memorial Day parade, it will now take place on veterans Day moving forward.

Monday, May 27 at 11 a.m. Remembering Those Who Gave Their All.

Speaker: Chris Spandorf Director of Public Safety and Security at Mojave Air & Space Port.

Chris' parents served in the U.S. Air Force, his brother served in U.S. Navy. He is a 2001 graduate of High School in Mojave and has worked at MASP since 2006. He has been around aircraft and veterans his whole life!

Volunteers needed at Bakersfield National Cemetery

Please join Bakersfield National Cemetery staff and support commitee in May to honor those who served our country with dignity and honor by volunteering for the following Memorial Day activities:

Thursday, May 23 – Flag holder placement at 8:30 a.m.

Saturday, May 25 – Memorial Day Ceremony at 9 a.m.

(Flag Placement following ceremony – Family members wishing to place flags on their loved one's gravesite may do so between 7:30 and 8:30 a.m.).

Tuesday, May 28 – Flag and flag holder pick up at 8:30 a.m.

Appropriate aged children are welcomed to assist as this is a great teaching opportunity for young people to honor those interred at this National Shrine.
