For the fourth consecutive year, the Tehachapi Arts Commission will be holding its nationally recognized art show at the Aspen Builders Community Activity Center in July. Those who have attended in prior years can attest to the beauty and creativity brought to canvas by the artists who come here to paint our community during the May paint out.

This year, 50 artists from around the country will be painting in Tehachapi from May 17-19, beginning the paintings that will be submitted and juried into the July 19-21 Art 2024 Tehachapi show. Many of them will be returning for the fourth year. However, this year will be slightly different. On Saturday, May 18, Tehachapi residents will have a rare opportunity to see many of these artists working at their easels in various locations around the community. The Tehachapi Arts Commission has arranged for a number of the artists to paint on site and be available to answer questions. Several of the artists have agreed to paint in more than one location.

Saturday, May 18 is the day of the Brite Lake Fishing Derby and TVRPD has arranged for the artists to have free access to the lake, so don't be surprised if you see an easel or two there.

The demonstration locations and the artists who will be attending are as follows:

Learn about plein air painting and the different techniques the artists use. Some of them may bring a finished piece to show. Keep in mind that the artists have control of their individual schedules, so they may move from one location to another.

The Tehachapi Arts Commission invites all art lovers and collectors to save the date of July 19-21 for the Art 2024 Show at the Aspen Builders Community Event Center located at 410 W. D St. An elegant opening event is planned for the evening of July 19 when guests can sample hors d'oeuvres and drinks from an open bar while chatting with the artists and other collectors. Awards will be presented for the Best of Show, Best Landscape, Best Still Life and Best Urban Painting.
