Celebration of Life
Raymond Michel Joseph Girard, 65, of Tehachapi, passed away unexpectedly on April 6. Ray was born to Albert and Claire Girard on Sept. 6, 1958, in Montebello, California.
Ray worked for over 40 years in the aerospace industry after serving in the Air Force and then as an engineer at Northrup Grumman since 1990. Ray married Veronica in 1987, and together, they enjoyed gardening, camping, fishing and raising their children after moving to Tehachapi in 1990.
Ray served the Tehachapi community for many years through his countless volunteer hours with the Tehachapi Boy Scout Troops 136 and 138 and as a soccer coach.
He is survived by, and deeply missed, by his wife Veronica, his children Vincent, Nicole (Jonathan) Hernandez, Airon Cendejas, Albert (Cristal) Cendejas, his siblings Diane Klempner, Elaine (Wayne) Avila, Frank (Leslie), David (Laura), his five grandchildren and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by his parents.
He will be remembered for his gardening, love of the outdoors, barbecuing skills, creativity, passion for music, enthusiasm for lifelong learning, skilled craftsmanship and unwavering love of his family.
Wood Family Funeral Service handled the arrangements. Services were held at the Bakersfield National Cemetery on April 25.
