Spring Fling at California Living Museum, March 26-30

March 16, 2024

Spring Fling is scheduled for March 26-30 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the California Living Museum. As a way of welcoming springtime to Bakersfield, admission for children (between the ages of 3-12 years) is only $4. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

Each day, there will be a variety of fun-filled activities, as well as Keeper Chats each morning and afternoon. Plus, from 9 a.m. to noon each day, our vet helpers will be in to provide a health check for your favorite stuffed toy. All "patients" will receive an official certificate of health from our team. If you need a new stuffed toy friend, the CALM Gift Store has a wide variety of mammal, bird and reptile stuffies available. Surprise animal art presentations will also be happening at this time.

If all that wasn't enough fun, the Central Valley Children's Railroad will be chugging along the tracks from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each day. The train is appropriate for all ages and tickets are $2 per person for unlimited rides.

Hunsaker Brothers food services will be onsite for those wishing to purchase lunch (or a snack); however, guests are also welcome to bring their own picnic lunch. Mallory Entertainment will also be on-hand to provide musical entertainment throughout the day.

For those who want to get involved at CALM, volunteer opportunities are now available. Volunteer areas include member check-in, activity tables for the kids, arts/crafts table, seed planting - all the fun stuff! Shifts are 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and noon - 4:30 p.m. each day.

All volunteers can sign up with VolunteerMark at calmzoo.org/volunteers. A step-by-step guide on how to volunteer is available on the portal. Just click on the "Volunteer Portal" button. Volunteers must be at least 16 years old.

CALM is located only 15 minutes from downtown Bakersfield at 10500 Alfred Harrel Hwy (between Lake Ming and Hart Park). For more information, call CALM at (661) 872-2256 or visit our website at http://www.calmzoo.org/.
