Roy Wesley Rogers.

Roy Wesley Rogers entered this life on Nov. 30, 1955, at the Wasco Maternity Home in Wasco, California. His parents were Nemo and Anna Rogers who had grown up around Wasco most of their lives. His sister JoAnn and brother Johnny were very excited to see their new brother.

His father worked in construction and leveling land which meant the family moved around a lot. Roy lived in Wasco, Pixley, King City, Morro Bay, Mojave and California City, before finally settling down in Tehachapi. At that time, he was 3 years old. He attended school in Tehachapi except for one year when the family moved to Wasco for another job. He returned to Tehachapi and graduated with the class of 1974.

He attended junior college at Antelope Valley College, before transferring to Fresno State. He graduated from Fresno State in 1982 with a bachelor's degree in Sociology and was studying for his master's degree when illness forced him to come home.

After regaining his health, he moved to the Antelope Valley and went to work at the LA County abortion clinic as a counselor for a couple of years before going to work at the L.A. County Abuse Shelter as a counselor and finally rising to the rank of Manager of the shelter.

He was preceded in death by both his mom and dad. He is survived by his sister, JoAnn (Gary) Childress of Tehachapi, his brother Johnny of Lancaster, two nephews Gary Childress Jr. of Tehachapi and Jeff (Kim) Childress of Santa Maria and a great niece Ivana (Fred) Estrada of Irvine and great nephew Christopher of Phoenix, Arizona.

He will be laid to rest in Tehachapi Public Cemetery Eastside and the family will have a celebration of life at a later date.
