Rocks from the painting booth at the 2023 Tehachapi Hometown Christmas will be used to decorate TVHD's planned community garden.

Tehachapi Valley Healthcare District (TVHD) held their first board meeting of the year on Jan. 16. During the meeting, the board elected to stay the same going into the new year. The board was happy to report that the rock-painting booth held at last year's Tehachapi Hometown Christmas was a great success. Painted rocks are planned to be used to decorate the long-running community garden project between TVHD and The Village Tehachapi.

At the meeting, the board also reviewed the latest community survey, which garnered 45 responses. Some respondents suggested a resource center, with readily available family, social and senior services, as well as community meeting rooms, classes and kitchen space. However, an overwhelming majority of the responses cited a need for an urgent care facility in Tehachapi. A non-compete agreement with Adventist might make it difficult for TVHD to operate such a facility, but the board agreed to look into the possibility of providing a space for another organization to operate an urgent care.
