John McCraw has been working in the electrical industry since 1979, when he went to work for an electrical contractor in his home town of Santa Clarita. It was not long before he wanted his own company, so he went back to school and received his contractor's license in 1987. He opened John K. McCraw Electrical in Santa Clarita and never looked back.
As the city of Santa Clarita grew, so did his business, doing both residential and commercial electrical improvement and repair. The business thrived and is still the base for John K. McCraw Electrical.
John met his wife, Becky, in February 2020 during the COVID pandemic and admits that much of their dating took place watching TV and eating takeout. They were married in April of 2022. Between the two of them, they have four children and seven grandchildren. They both started thinking about retirement and decided it was time to make a move. They fell in love with Tehachapi and the fact that it is only an hour from family and the Santa Clarita office that John would be leaving in the capable hands of Kevin, who had been with him for 20 years.
They found a home in Bear Valley Springs and John K. McCraw Electrical Tehachapi became operational at the beginning of 2024. John and Becky think they now have the best of two worlds. John continues the work he loves and both of them are able to pursue their other love, off-roading, now that they are close to California City, Dove Springs and Randsburg. They also own a Harley Davidson motorcycle and love to take trips over to the coast when time allows.
