January 20, 2024

Councilwoman Jeanette Pauer, Councilman Phil Smith, Mayor Pro-tem Joan Pogon-Cord, Susan Wiggins and Mayor Michael Davies.

At the Jan. 16 meeting of the Tehachapi City Council, Councilwoman Susan Wiggins announced her resignation. She said she will be moving to Pennsylvania at the end of January with her son and his family. He has taken a job there and she understandably wants to stay close to him and her grandchildren.

Susan Wiggins has been a member of the Tehachapi City Council since 2011 and represents District 5. She served as mayor-protem from 2016-2018 and mayor from 2018-2020. She grew up in Mojave and was on the Board of Directors for the Mojave Air and Space Port and Mojave Unified School District before moving to Tehachapi with her husband Ed Wiggins. She was on the Board of Directors of the Tehachapi Valley Recreation and Park District from 2004-2008 and also served of the Board of Directors of the Greater Tehachapi Economic Development Council.

Wiggins has been a pillar of the community for many years and her absence will be a loss to our community. We wish her well.

The Tehachapi City Council meets on the first and third Monday of the month at 6 p.m. They are currently meeting at the Police Department Community Room, 220 W. C St.
