KCSOS launches education news, information website

The Kern County Superintendent of Schools (KCSOS) office announced it has debuted EdConnect, a news and information website focusing on Kern County public education. The site, located at http://www.news.kern.org, was established as a venue to better connect Kern County's 46 school districts, charter schools and KCSOS programs with the larger community.

"There are so many positive things happening at our local schools," said Rob Meszaros, KCSOS director of communications. "Our goal with this new initiative is to celebrate the people and programs that make Kern's public education system so special."

Meszaros added that Kern's school districts do a great job of communicating directly to their community partners through their own communications channels. The goal is to expand their reach and help tell local education stories in a more comprehensive way.

Stories will regularly include highlights about student and staff achievements, updates on new programs and services, and results from student events and competitions, among much more. Community members may suggest story ideas by emailing [email protected] or completing a tip line on the website.

About KCSOS

The Kern County Superintendent of Schools office, commonly known as KCSOS, is Kern County's Office of Education. KCSOS does not govern Kern County's 46 school districts. Rather, the organization supports and serves each of them through a variety of programs, fiscal accountability, approval of district Local Control Accountability Plans (LCAPs), assistance with staff development and training programs, and much more. KCSOS also directly serves students who have been expelled from their school of residence, students who are incarcerated or are on probation, students with severe special needs, and early learners.
