Traditional Christmas Book Market, Craft Event, Dec. 2

Friends of the Tehachapi Library

November 18, 2023

Provided.

Holiday traditions in our mountain community include the Tehachapi Hometown Christmas. This includes all the Festivities on Green Street and the Annual Christmas Parade on Dec. 2. Many of us will remember making ornaments as one of our own family traditions. This year, the Tehachapi Library will be having a free Make Your Own Ornament Craft Event.

On Dec. 2 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., adults and children are invited to come to the Library and make their own ornament on the upper floor near the back. Children will be able to chose from a selection of options which include a fairy, monster, dinosaur or gnome. This craft takes about 5 to 15 minutes to complete.

Adults will be able to choose from a variety of components, for example book pages, maps, etc. to create a Scandinavian woven basket ornament. Made by you for you, it will be truly "bespoke." This craft will take about 10 to 15 minutes.

In addition, the Friends of the Library want to remind you that books make great gifts for Christmas (or any other end of year holiday you celebrate). And to help you find these books, the Friends of the Library will be having a Christmas Book Market on Saturday, Dec. 2 from 10:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

The Book Market will be on the top floor of the Library with a large selection of Christmas and holiday books. In addition, there will be some curated "giftable" items, many costing less than $5. These special items include books, puzzles, journals and other generous donations from our community. There has also been a donation of hundreds like-new audio books that will be featured at the sale.

Note: if you have one of our memberships you get access to the sale early. Members can come in from 10 to 10:30 a.m. (And if you've volunteered to set up at one of the sales in the last 6 months you can also shop early.) If you don't have a membership, you can get one at the door. They are only $10 for a whole year and get you in early for all our sales.

So, put your "Christmas Cheer" on, and visit us before, during, or after you hit the Tehachapi Hometown Christmas. We're located right there on Green Street where all the action will be.

Plus, you're also welcome to shop the regular library book shop. There are great deals available everyday the library is open. Remember, all the proceeds from our book sales stay locally at our own Tehachapi branch to support library programs, such as this free Ornament Craft Event.
