Holiday Decorating Contest

Greater Tehachapi Chamber of Commerce

Second annual Decorating Contest for Downtown businesses and the theme is "Past, Present and Future." Decorate your business window to celebrate Tehachapi Hometown Christmas!

Must be fun and most importantly represent Tehachapi. Prizes will be awarded to first and second place winners. Contest ends Dec. 2.

Friday, Nov. 24 and Saturday, Nov. 25

Holiday Bazaar, hosted by the Bear Valley Springs Cultural Arts Association.

Nov. 24 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Nov. 25

10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Whiting Center, 26940 Bear Valley Rd., Tehachapi.

Shop early for the holidays! Enjoy your favorite local artists and Santa's Cafe. Gate pass from a BVS resident needed for entry into Bear Valley Springs.

Saturday, Dec. 2

The Friends of the Tehachapi Library will be having a traditional Christmas Book Market and Craft Event starting at 10 a.m. It will be in the warm and comfy Tehachapi Library located at 212 S. Green St. There will be free cocoa/coffee and different holiday crafts for the kids and adults, too.

Past, Present and Future is the theme chosen of this year's Christmas Parade. Beginning at Mulberry St. the parade route is down F St. starting at 5:30 p.m. For more information contact the Chamber office at (661) 822-4180.

Breakfast with Santa, hosted by the Tehachapi Rotary, Kiwanis, Lion clubs and Masons.

Held at Aspen Builders Inc. Activity Center, 410 W. D St. from 8 to 10 a.m.

Free picture with Santa, plus games and kids activities and breakfast (pancakes, sausage and beverages) for the whole family. Admission and parking is FREE.

Saturday, Dec. 2, 9 & 16

Photos with Santa at the Depot. Santa will be around from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. On Dec. 2 the Depot will be open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and there will be a bake sale and hot chocolate available for donations.

The Depot Musuem is at 101 W. Tehachapi Blvd. Open Thursday through Monday until Dec. 17, then open daily the last 2 weeks of December. Weather permitting. Closed on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year's Eve and New Year's Day.

Saturday, Dec. 2 and Sunday, Dec. 3

German Christmas Market on Dec. 2 and 3 from noon to 6 p.m. at Dorner Family Vineyard, 18274 Old Ranch Rd., (661) 823-7814, http://www.dornerfamilyvineyard.com.

Featuring 50 local and youth artisan vendors, expanded gourmet kitchen gift shop, traditional German food and poke, sweets, snacks and pretzels, glühwein by glass or bottle, carolers, and wine glass painting class (fee). You can purchase wine for the holidays while you are there.

Friday, Dec. 8

Tehachapi Symphony Orchestra, featuring selections from Handel's Messiah at 7 p.m. A concert for the holidays featuring Handel's Messiah and cellist Hellen Newby.

A special tradition here in Tehachapi, featuring the Tehachapi Symphonic chorus under the direction of Sandy Adams alongside the Tehachapi Symphony Orchestra. Located at Country Oaks Baptist Church, 20915 Schout Rd.

Stallion Springs Holiday Boutique, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. sponsored by Stallion Springs Parks Department. Get your last minute holiday shopping done at 27800 Stallion Springs Drive! More information (661) 822-3268 ext. 222.

Breakfast with Santa in Stallion Springs at the community center with three time slots: 8 a.m., 9 a.m. and 10 a.m. Sign up at the rec desk at 27800 Stallion Springs Dr. There is a fee.

Southern Sierra Pops Christmas Concert at the Whiting Center, 26940 Bear Valley Rd., Bear Valley Springs, Saturday, Dec. 9 at 3 p.m. Free for BVS residents and $5 for non-residents. To get access through the BVS gate call (661) 246-9443.

Wreaths Across America in Tehachapi is sponsored this year by the 5150 Dieselz of Tehachapi. Opening ceremony at Westside Cemetery 920 Enterprise Way at 9 a.m. After the opening ceremony the wreaths will be laid out at Westside Cemetery and the Eastside Cemetery. Saturday, Dec. 16

Wreaths Across America in Mojave will meet at 11 a.m. The goal for Mojave Cemetery is to raise enough funds to place 520 sponsored wreaths on the headstones of all the local heroes laid to rest there, to ensure that the individuals who served to protect the freedoms of our country never be forgotten and to bring the community together in patriotic commemoration.

Those interested in volunteering for Wreaths Across America or sponsoring a wreath for Mojave Cemetery, are invited to visit http://www.wreathsacrossamerica.org/CA0635 to learn more. National Wreaths Across America Day is a free community event open to all people.

Thursday, Dec. 21

TPOPS concert, 1 to 2:30 p.m. Hosted at the Adult Day Care/Health Care Center at 123 W. F St., Tehachapi. Christmas sing along songs for the kids and traditional songs for the adults.
