The Senior Wellness event on Oct. 12 at the Whiting Center was quite successful and well received. Different organizations had tables from which they dispensed relevant information. The VIPs stood by, answered any questions they could answer, or directed folks to the relevant professional.
Thanksgiving is on the horizon. The Oaks will be serving the annual Thanksgiving buffet from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Nov. 23. Reservations are required of course. Also, curbside pre-orders can be reserved if you wish to take your feast home with you. To reserve, call Ashley now at (661) 821-5521.
Another important event during the Thanksgiving weekend is the annual Holiday Bazaar, sponsored by the Bear Valley Springs Cultural Arts Association. It takes place the day after Thanksgiving, Friday, Nov. 24, and Saturday, Nov. 25. At least 40 booths will be there, offering a great variety of items that can make unique and personal Christmas gifts.
Also, don’t miss the door prize tickets where you have an opportunity to win a prize from one of the artisan booths.
The Bear Valley Springs Women’s Club is planning for their first annual Scholarship Dinner. It’s a fundraiser dinner for the purpose of raising funds to provide scholarships for THS seniors. It will be held at the Bear Valley Springs Country Club Ballroom on Saturday, Nov. 18 from 5-11 p.m. Dinner will be served at 6 p.m. To make reservations or for more information, email Nettie Farrar at tch4th@hotmail.com.
The Whiting Center offers Adult Pick-Up Basketball on Thursday nights from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. The games are co-ed, and you must be 18 or older to play. Bear Valley residents are free, but you must sign a liability release form. A $5 fee with a sponsor is charged for guests.
Bear Valley Springs is a private gated community in which the residents pay an annual association amenities fee. To visit, a non-member or non-resident must arrange with a friend or family member in the community for a guest pass that would permit them to engage in the activities. Guest passes will be checked.
