Democrats plan activities

October 14, 2023

The Tehachapi Mountain Democratic Club held its October meeting at Kelcy’s Restaurant on Oct. 5. The guest for the evening was John Burrows, candidate for the Congressional District 20 seat. It was Burrows second visit to Tehachapi. He was proud to announce that he has received an endorsement from the Dolores Huerta Foundation. He introduced his Campaign Organizer, Bryan Beltran, who also serves as a Regional Organizer for the Democratic Party.

Club President Yvette Benton reviewed a number of club activities. Among them is a trash cleanup along Tucker Road and Valley Blvd. on Friday, Oct. 6. Another ongoing project is a canned food drive for the Tehachapi Humanitarian Relief Group. Donations may be made at Kelcy’s Restaurant at 110 W. Tehachapi Blvd. The Club will participate in Trunk or Treat, as well as Tehachapi’s Hometown Christmas and is collecting items for the events.

On Dec. 16, with the Democratic Women of Kern, the club will place wreaths on the graves of veterans interred at the Bakersfield National Cemetery. Wreaths Across America is a nationwide program to honor our fallen veterans. To date club members have donated more than $600 toward the purchase of wreaths.

The club meets on the first Thursday of each month at Kelcy’s Restaurant, 110 W Tehachapi Blvd. Join us at 5 p.m. for a dinner/social hour followed by the meeting at 6 p.m. Visit our website at http://www.tehachapidemocrats.com/.
