Sharing & Caring

September 30, 2023

Sarah Mouchet.

On the corner of Pauley and W. F streets in Tehachapi sits a cute yellow house out of which the Sharing & Caring thrift store operates on a wing and a prayer. Run by community donations and the passion of 25 volunteers, the thrift shop does far more than give old items a new life.

Proceeds from the store go directly back into the community through a bills assistance fund, from which people in need of any kind of monetary assistance can request aid. The nonprofit also has a small food pantry that offers free food boxes every three months and fills baskets volunteers make and distribute during the holidays.

Since 1998, Sharing & Caring has served as a liaison between the good-natured generosity of the people of Tehachapi and those in our community who need a hand. Sharing & Caring accepts all donations and can pick up bigger items like couches, bookcases, etc. Volunteers and cash donations are especially needed as the holiday season approaches.

Visit Sharing & Caring at 207 S. Pauley St. Open 9:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. Monday to Friday, Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.
